Having a hairdresser dry and style your locks can leave you feeling ready to walk a runway or pose for Vogue magazine, but you may not have the time to visit the salon every day. Thankfully, it’s not too hard to achieve the same volume, shine and shape at home. All you’ll need is a hair dryer and a round brush with a large barrel, like the Moroccanoil Round Brush. You’ll also need few hair care products, four to eight hair clips (Moraccanoil carries those too!) and some practice. This technique is meant to help you save time getting ready for your day without sacrificing your hairstyle.
Prepare your hair
First, you’ll have to wash your hair. Give it a good scrub with Klorane Shampoo with Oat Milk, then condition your strands with the Klorane Conditioner with Oat Milk. Wrap your hair in a towel, but do not rub the fabric on your locks. This can lead to frizzy strands. Gently squeeze the towel around your hair to get out as much moisture as you can. When you’re ready to dry your hair, first spray on some product to protect it from the heat, like Phyto Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray. Use some texturizing spray or volumizing mousse for added oomph to your ‘do.
Drying and setting your locks
Flip your head over, comb through your strands and grab your hair dryer. Using just your fingers, tousle your hair as you blast it with heat. Drying your hair in the opposite direction that it naturally sits will give you added volume. When your hair is about halfway dry, turn off the dryer and flip your head back up. Brush through your strands and clip them into four sections – one on each side, the back and the crown. Let down the crown first, grab your round brush and turn your dryer back on.
Brush a small section up and away from your head, rolling the brush down toward your scalp and pulling it back up. Be sure to keep the heat on the brush the whole time. Do this a few times until the hair is dry. Then, roll your hair into a big barrel and clip it to your head while it cools to lock in the wave. Repeat this on each section, letting them all cool completely. Take out your clips and hit your hair with the dryer’s cool setting to close up the hair cuticles and really make your locks shine. Brush you hair with the round brush until you get the shape you want, set with hairspray and enjoy your handiwork.
